Gold for ELPRO: EcoVadis certifies excellent performance

ELPRO Recognized for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility

Group News

07 Jun 2019

ELPRO has been awarded a 2023 Gold Medal by EcoVadis for outstanding performance in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). For the sixth consecutive year, the Swiss company has earned the recognized certificate issued by EcoVadis, one of the world’s most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings, intelligence and collaborative performance improvement tools for global supply chains.

I am very pleased that we were able to improve our performance last year to such an extent that we were awarded a gold medal. It proves to us and to our customers and partners that we really care about the issues that EcoVadis audits.

Björn Niggemann, Chief Quality Officer

Thanks to the introduction of additional guidelines, the adoption of the Bosch Code of Conduct and ELPRO's contribution to Bosch's sustainability report, among other measures, the Swiss company was able to improve its score on the EcoVadis scorecard from 63 to 73 out of a possible 100 points. Compared to the other companies surveyed in the industry, ELPRO once again achieved an above-average score.

The EcoVadis methodology is at the core of the company’s CSR analysis system, covering 21 criteria across four themes that include environment; fair labor and human rights; ethics; and sustainable procurement. The methodology is built on international CSR standards including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the ISO 26000.

EcoVadis has attested that we have an advanced sustainability management system that covers all four areas very well. As a team, we will continue to work in the coming months to at least maintain this level and continue to improve in areas where there is still potential. To do this, we must continue to focus on the environment, our employees and fair business practices.

Industry leaders such as Johnson & Johnson, Verizon, L’Oréal, Subway, Nestlé, Salesforce, Michelin and BASF are among the more than 90,000 businesses on the EcoVadis network, working to assess, collaborate and improve sustainability performance in order to protect their brands, foster transparency and innovation, and accelerate growth.
