Temperature Data Monitoring for Freezers (up to -20 °C)

In many pharma laboratories but even more so in food production, -20 °C freezers play an important role. From a temperature monitoring perspective, battery powered data loggers can still withstand the conditions of long-term storage. However, the right battery type choice is critical. While alkaline batteries loose performance within a few days when stored frozen, lithium batteries can easily withstand temperatures down to -30 °C for one year or more.

The are important questions to consider when selecting a temperature data monitoring solution:

1. Number: Is it a single unit or do many freezers need to be monitored.
2. Location: Are all units in the same location or are they in multiple buildings, cites, states, etc.?
3. Alerting: Is local visual/audible alerting important or is 24/7 alerting via email & SMS required?
4. Reports and data storage: Should the data and reports be stored locally or in a centralized database solution?
