Around 200 guests from the town, the region, and the business community celebrated ELPRO's 40th anniversary in Buchs on 22 August 2026. For the Open Day, ELPRO opened its doors to neighbors, invited guests, and the families and friends of its employees – offering a glimpse into a technology that ensures medicines arrive safely with patients all over the world.
Forty years ago, ELPRO's story began in a modest building behind the Buchs train station. Today, the company is an international provider of solutions for monitoring temperature-sensitive products.
The Open Day centered on exchange and connection. On tours through the entire company, the roughly 200 visitors experienced how an idea turns into a finished solution, and just how much precision goes into the daily work. Employees shared insights into their everyday tasks, answered questions, and showed what they are passionate about. Over food, drinks, and plenty of conversation, people came together who otherwise rarely cross paths.
As an employer, ELPRO is firmly rooted in the region. Worldwide, the company employs around 230 people, 131 of them at the Buchs site – in areas such as development, production, quality, IT, consulting, and customer service. When it comes to training future specialists, ELPRO works closely with regional educational institutions and supports them in their work.
We were delighted by the many guests who joined us. The fact that so many made their way here to learn more about us and were visibly impressed by what is being created in Buchs, makes us proud. These 40 years belong to the people who built ELPRO and to those who shape the company today – and it is with exactly this momentum that we are shaping the future of monitoring from Buchs.
Frederik Dresen, Chief Executive Officer, ELPRO
The Open Day marked the highlight of many activities celebrating the 40th anniversary. These included a video series featuring interviews with ELPRO's founder and long-serving employees, celebrations at all ELPRO locations worldwide, and support for the regional project "Resistant Bees", which is dedicated to the health of bee colonies and their resilience against disease.
The Open Day made tangible what defines ELPRO: technology, precision, and the people behind it. All in all: a day to remember – and a strong foundation for the next 40 years.
