Circular Economy

Sustainable Circular Economy for LIBERO Components

With the initiative to reuse valuable components of LIBERO data loggers, ELPRO helps to prevent early disposal of A-grade components and to support component availability.

Avoid Waste of Resources

Over 90 percent of all hardware components in our data loggers can be reused or recycled. These are particularly valuable raw materials that are needed for chip production.

Avoid Recycling Costs

Extracting raw materials from data loggers is complex, and disposal or recycling is costly. By reclaiming loggers, we recover valuable materials for ELPRO’s production and ensure proper recycling of non-reusable parts.

Exhaust Life Cycle

Our data loggers use A-grade components designed  to use for 10–20 years. In our re-utilization process, they are reprocessed and reused in a controlled manner, ensuring customers receive devices as good as new.

Assure Quality

By managing the re-utilization process, we ensure high quality standards. Our traceability system limits component reuse to one to three times, based on type and criticality.

Ensure Long-Term Availability

We face rising prices due to raw material shortages. By reusing high-quality parts and  components, we help overcome the crisis. Sustainable resource use ensures long-term availability at market prices.

Re-Utilization of Data Logger Components

How Re-Using of LIBERO Data Logger Components Works

Collect used LIBERO data loggers on-site until you reach the desired quantity. Then, pack them securely and prepare the shipping documents.

Please declare the data loggers as "Returned Goods for Recycling" rather than "Defective." Send them to one of the ELPRO locations listed below.

ELPRO inspects the data logger components for possible reuse. Reusable parts are returned to ELPRO's material and production flow, while non-reusable components are sent to an official recycling facility.

Return LIBERO Data Loggers

Special Initiative for a Free Return of LIBERO CB / LIBERO CS Data Loggers

For quantities of 100 or more LIBERO CB / LIBERO CS single-use data loggers, ELPRO will assist you with the return shipping process and cover the shipping costs.

Returning Less Than 100 LIBERO Data Loggers

Returning less than 100 units or a different ELPRO data logger device type? Please ship them to one of our ELPRO sites listed below.

By returning your devices, you help keep valuable and scarce components in circulation, supporting a sustainable future. Through our ā€˜Sustainable Circular Economy for LIBERO Components’ initiative, you contribute to reusing materials directly in production—helping secure long-term availability and stabilize costs in a market facing global component shortages.

FAQs

Everything you Need to Know About Returning ELPRO Data Loggers

Where do I get value from sending data loggers back?

The industry has been observing a growing shortage of components for several years. Initially, the shortage was mainly of simple components such as condensers. But today there is a global shortage of a number of raw materials and components. This has led to a massive increase in prices. Since this will not change in the foreseeable future, ELPRO, our suppliers and you, our customers, are increasingly focusing on the circular economy and the re-utilization of components. Only through the sustainable use of resources can availability be ensured in the long term at prices in line with the market.
By participating in our initiative "Sustainable Circular Economy for LIBERO Components", you contribute to return as many valuable and scarce components as possible directly into the production cycle of LIBERO data loggers.

What is the advantage of returning data loggers?

The extraction of raw materials from data loggers is complex, which is why recycling is expensive in many countries. By taking over the recycling and re-utilization of parts and components centrally for you, we and you contribute to an efficient and sustainable circular economy and ensure that the greatest possible proportion of the valuable, scarce parts and components built into our data loggers are returned to ELPRO's material and production flow.

From what quantity is it worthwhile to return the LIBERO data loggers?

We firmly believe that it is worthwhile to return every single LIBERO data logger to the ELPRO material and production flow. Over 90 percent of all hardware components of our data loggers can be reused or recycled. These are particularly valuable raw materials that are required for chip production. In addition, we use only A-grade components that are typically designed to serve between ten and twenty years.

Who pays for shipping the data loggers to ELPRO?

Organization of the shipment and shipping costs will be taken over by the sender. From a quantity of 100 LIBERO CS and/or CB data loggers ELPRO will help you with the shipment and take over the shipping costs. In this case please contact us directly.

How can I return LIBERO data loggers?

Pack the data loggers and prepare the shipping documents and the delivery note. Declare the shipment as 'Return Goods for Recycling'. Send the data loggers to one of the ELPRO locations listed above.

What information do I need to include with the return?

Please use a delivery note with the details of the sender and the number of data loggers. Please make sure to label the data loggers as 'Return Goods for Recycling' and not as 'Defective'.

Are there any limitations for returning data loggers?

It is possible to return your data loggers from most countries without any problems. However, there are countries where the legal requirements can lead to potential complications. For this reason, we have divided all countries into country groups:

  • Country group 1 = ELPRO can organize the return transport on its own as a service.
  • Country group 2 = The returning company organizes the return transport with support from ELPRO.
  • Country group 3 = Specific local clarifications and authorizations from returning company are required; ELPRO can provide supporting information.

You can find information on the country group to which your country belongs in the document "process information" on this webpage.

How do I get the necessary customs documents?

Organization of the shipment and the necessary shipping and customs documents will be taken over by the sender. From a quantity of 100 LIBERO CS or CB data loggers ELPRO will help you with the shipment and take over the shipping costs. In this case, please contact us directly.

How do I have to pack the data loggers?

Pack the LIBERO data loggers so that they are protected from moisture or extreme shocks. Please be sure to declare the data loggers as 'Return Goods for Recycling' and not as 'Defective' in the shipping documents.

Where can I find the nearest drop-off station?

You can send your LIBERO data loggers to one of the ELPRO locations listed above.

Who at ELPRO can I contact if I have questions?

If you have any questions about the "Sustainable Circular Economy for LIBERO Components" initiative, please contact swiss@elpro.com or your contact person at ELPRO.

What happens to the data loggers at ELPRO?

Over 90 percent of all hardware components used in the new ELPRO data loggers can be reused or recycled. Via our retraceability system, we check whether components can be reused. Since ELPRO itself feeds the components of the returned data loggers into the ELPRO defined and controlled re-utilization process, ELPRO's high quality standards are guaranteed.
