ELPRO’s success in environmental monitoring began when Alois Bischof sought to solve a pressing issue for a local food transportation company. The company often faced spoiled goods on specific transport routes in Europe. To address this, Bischof developed ELPRO’s first data logger, the HAMSTER, which made it possible to continuously monitor and analyze temperatures inside refrigerated trucks. The innovation quickly spread, first among Swiss food companies, and soon after into warehouse monitoring for the pharmaceutical industry.

Autonomous Monitoring

Between 1998 and 2001, ELPRO developed the ECOLOG Tx series, a line of precise, universally applicable data loggers for monitoring and documenting temperature and relative humidity. Their versatility made them suitable for everything from monitoring rooms, equipment and production processes to transport documentation. Thanks to a broad selection of configuration options, sensors and accessories, the ECOLOG Tx series has been used reliably for more than 25 years.

Connected Security

ELPRO launched the ECOLOG-NET series in 2004—a central monitoring system that expanded monitoring beyond temperature and relative humidity to include additional parameters. Data could be transmitted through wired connections and, later, wirelessly, offering users both flexibility and security in room monitoring. A global service technician network ensures installation, annual calibration and continuous maintenance of the monitoring systems—always compliant with standards and seamlessly integrated into customers’ processes.

Revolutionary Patent

The launch of the LIBERO Ti1 marked a turning point in transport monitoring. What set it apart was its ability to automatically evaluate this data at destination, delivered in a clear PDF report that required no special software. It could be read directly via USB, easily shared by email. Measurement data was embedded within the file. With this patented solution, ELPRO fundamentally changed data monitoring in transport. From 2009, LIBERO evolved further, now offering relative humidity measurement and an extended temperature range.

Software Intelligence

It soon became clear that the data being collected could do more than simply trigger alarms. From 2011 onward, ELPRO invested in database solutions that not only stored and analyzed cold chain data through liberoMANAGER and room/device data via elproMONITOR, but also evaluated the information automatically.

Large Quantities

In response to the growing demand for PDF data loggers in pharmaceutical transport, ELPRO introduced the LIBERO Cx series, designed for single-use applications. This allowed ELPRO to meet customers’ demands for tens of thousands of data loggers at competitive prices. The series continues to evolve, responding to customer needs for more diverse applications.

Compliance Made Easier

Navigating global regulations and standards can be complex—but with the necessary expertise, they can be mastered. ELPRO launched its GxP Service team. The team supports companies with comprehensive solutions for system qualification and validation as well as extensive temperature mapping, enabling them to meet compliance requirements, prepare for upcoming audits worldwide, and ensure smooth operation at all times.

Opening of the new headquarters and production site in the Langaeulistrasse in Buchs, where ELPRO is still located today.

The site oversees product development, global quality management, and production. ales and service specialists based in Buchs support customers across Europe and the Middle East. ISO 9001:2015-certified, it also holds an ISO 17025 accreditation for the calibration of ELPRO hardware.

Establishment of ELPRO’s sales and service office for the Asia-Pacific region in Singapore. Since its foundation, the office has grown rapidly, supported by six regional partner companies extending its reach and service capabilities in this area.

A self-service solution for room monitoring without involving the IT department? ELPRO made this possible with the development of elproCLOUD. Customers can set up monitoring of smaller rooms and devices in just a few minutes with a starter kit and are notified of important events by email. Evaluation and deviation reports can be generated individually at any time.

ELPRO became part of Bosch Service Solutions, combining the strengths of both companies to expand internationally and develop innovative service solutions. ELPRO remains unchanged, continuing to provide reliable environmental monitoring solutions and dedicated customer support worldwide.
